I love your statement - don't be afraid to do. So many of us are afraid of failure, of looking like we don't have it all together. This is the same with those in the classroom and those (like me) who are no longer teaching. We can't do if we don't try.

Glad you could get to Educon, if though I could only follow on Twitter. I did catch one session in Elluminate. It all looked great.

Gerald,

Thanks for the reflection. I am on overload from all of the great conversations and I am actually enjoying reading all of the posts that others have written from the weekend. Your last paragraph is helpful and what I hope to keep in mind.

Failure should be something we cherish in schools because it leads to our most significant learning experiences. I think we hold back too often for fear of failure. I guess the only negative connotation for failure in my mind is stagnation.

Great to meet you at educon!

I so wish I was there! Those of us who couldn't attend will be relying on you to bring us up to speed (no pressure) :). I hope that you will post links to the Elluminate sessions...I don't know if the archives are already up but I couldn't seem to get the few I tried to work.

@TheresaG I was in your position last year. I'd never heard of Educon until my Twitter PLN started going on about it in about November of 2008. I wanted to go, but it didn't work out, and I ended up following the chat on Twitter and blogs. I decided then that I was going to go this year no matter what. It was well worth it, and I've already decided I'm bringing colleages with me next year.

I wasn't able to attend Educon this year - but I followed closely as my PLN did via Twitter and blogs!! It was an amazing session and while not being there - I have learned a lot. It is my goal to attend in future years to experience the sort of cognitive overload you are feeling now and hopefully implement some real change in the systems I work within. Looking forward to hearing more as you synthesize your learning!!

Great post! As a first-time attendee, I was left with similar realization: authenticity, validation and power of PLN and that our learning (as teachers) continues. I'm sorry we did not get to meet f2f during #Educon! But thanks to technology, we are still connected, one of my Twitter friends reminded me today.
I look forward to your future tweets and blog posts!
